Me & My Girls (TFG)

Best friends. We all have at least one friend that always been there for us and we considered them as our best friend. I am lucky because I have six. We are seven girls that shared our childhood memories and growing up together. We called ourselves as The Flower Girls (TFG). I do not know why TFG but we got this name from Hanem who always call us like “Bunga-bungaku sekalian”. I guess we are just as pretty as a flower. Overflowing confidence? I know. So, TFG is me, Asz, Farah, Nadia, Ekin, Hanem and Iliya. The funny thing is we all hated each other at the beginning. Azmira, Farah, Nadia and Ekin, we came from the same primary school, SK Batang Kali. But we were never friend except for Azmira, Farah and I. Now I’m going to tell you little bit about my girls.

Nurul Syazaratul Azmira. We called her Asz since her name is too long so we shortened it. She and I have been best friend since we were ten. I remember we always sang in the class and fought with the boys. Just the two of us could make the class upside down. We even daydreamed about to form a band, and the two of us would be the vocalists. This is embarrassing to tell but we were kids, and kids have infinity imaginations. But Asz got a real nice voice though but now she doesn’t seem like to sing. Maybe she still loves to sing but not in front of us. What I like about this girl, she is a fast learner. She can do literally everything that she learns. When she doesn’t know about something, she could be real stupid (my honest opinion). But she will learn it, and in five minutes, she mastered it easily. Dancing, memorizing songs, make up, picture and video editing, she could do it without any difficulty. Trust me I rarely compliment her so is she. But this is the truth that should be told. Asz is one of a tough and harsh girl, I would say. She is outspoken, her jokes could hurt but they are funny, she doesn’t like complicated things. She usually minds her own business. Asz rarely show her affection, she doesn’t like hugs and kisses. However, she is protective towards the person she loves. Frankly speaking, I have always adored her matured thinking. When she talks about serious matter, it’s like talking to a 30 years old lady. Asz is not that sensitive, but when you hurt her, it will take a decade to gain her trust back. It takes her quite a long time to have her to open her heart to give or accept things. And the best thing about her is, she is the easiest person to hang out with. Just tell her when she would never say no. She is my CL and Miley Cyrus and I love her.

Nurul Farah Atiqah. She is my best friend since we were eleven. She was the new girl in our class and I thought she is pretty. She has this kind of “minah salleh” looks. At that time, I heard her speaking in English with her parents and I thought “She must be a clever girl”. I didn’t really like her back then because I envied her. But then, she came to Asz and I, and we became friends. Still, I didn’t like her. Bear with me because what I’m about to tell is real childish. The reason I didn’t like her was because I thought she took away Asz from me, it was always the two of us but then she included herself wherever we went. Then, I left them and I went to find other friends (laughing so hard). Stupid, but that’s just how kids learn. But we become friends again at the age of 16. Now, all the past become a joke to us. It was really cringe-worthy. Farah is overflowed with talents. She can sing, dance, and play the guitar and she isn’t afraid to show it. But then she has a very low self-esteem. I do not know what’s wrong with this buddy. Farah shares everything with me. I’m happy because she would tell all her worries or problems to me. I, myself, do not mind at all. I would listen to her. I try to convince her at all time that she should be confidence with herself because she has a lot what people do not have. Tell you what, this girl worries too much. She worries if she hurts people, if people do not like her, if she doesn’t do the best. But she is totally more than fine, and I hope she will realize it. Farah is a k-pop girl and Belieber (Justin Bieber’s #1 fan). She is the reason why I got into BTS!!! She is the one to blame. But I love her, she is the most considerate person I’ve ever met. She put people she loves first than herself. Farah, saranghaja!

Nur Asheekin. Our Ekin. She is the most normal person in TFG. If we do gathering, the others would freak out, lose control, talk non-stop but Ekin, she is the one that would remain calm and relax. Ekin was my schoolmate in primary but we were not friends. She was in different class. I used to think she was conceited because of her stares. I admit Ekin is pretty, but she looks like someone that “I won’t be your friend because you’re ugly”. That’s what I thought honestly. Nah, it was just my erroneous first impression. Do not judge a book by its cover, remember? I was totally wrong. She is really kind, very graceful and supportive. I have always been a listener but with her, she would be the listener. She listens to all my worries. The best thing is she understands very well and all her advices have been useful for me. She thinks like no other, I guess she experienced lots of things. Yet, do not underestimate her. She may look graceful but once she gets mad, there’s no turning back for you. Her death stare will be making a comeback. One more thing, I adore her, she is determined and conscientious. She completed all of her schoolwork at all time. When will I ever be like you, Ekin? Ekin is the youngest in her family even so she is so motherly. She does everything by her own. She doesn’t put everything on her parents. She can cook and babysit babies. She is the “Gadis Melayu Terakhir” that I know. I think she is the most reliable person in TFG. I am sure her future mother-in-law will totally love her just like I love her.

Nadia Kamaruddin or Nadia or Nad. We were schoolmate too but not friends. We only started to be close when were 16 since we were the same class and sit next to each other. She was my tablemate. Nadia has many friends in school because she was really active participating in school’s activities. She loved to expose herself to the Sun as she was Kadet Polis. I do not remember her rank but it was quite high. I was not active so. In a year, she got twice burn face. But then, she got fair again faster. I do not know what kind of product she used. Nadia is really good with numbers. I thought she had a family relation with Albert Einsten. Mathematics, Add-Maths, Accounting & Physics, these are the things that made me throw up. Nah, I’m just exaggerating. But they are nothing to Nadia. Maybe she had some difficulties with them but she eventually can solve it. Not me, the problems would be forever unsolved. Nadia is also the most M.I.A. (missing in action) member. Whenever, we did gathering, she would not be there. Well, it is because she was actually really busy since she was active in school while us, meh. I think it has never changed, even now she still is the most M.I.A. member. Never mind that, because I know she will always be there for important things.

Next up is Iliya Sabrina. We call her Iliya. Do not call her Sabrina, she dislikes it. She said Sabrina is too feminine for her. I think so too. If you know her, you’ll be surprised on how relax and sempoi she is. She simply does not care what people say about her, she is just being herself. She is really one of kind. She does not pretend because she hates to. She would simply tell you what she wants and what she does not want. I do not think she will agree me on this, but she is actually quite popular among boys because she is so easy-going. But my first impression on her was not really pleasant. It’s because she looks cold. But as soon as I talked to her, I like her immediately. She is open-minded and listens to people easily. This buddy is really smart but she does not want to admit that. Well, being humble is her speciality… sometimes. Also, Iliya is really good in English. She and I would be the preference from the others. I sometime envy on how well she plays with words. She has such a wide vocabulary but still she will say I’m better than her which I don’t think so and that makes me want to punch her in the face. And today, she is a student from UPSI too! I encouraged her to apply UPSI since she likes English. So yes, we are in the same university with the same programme. Friendship goals huh? Oh, did I mention she is tough and harsh? Yes, she does not act like a lady. Like I said, she is really relaxed. She does not really like make up, she does not wear dress and heels that often. But lately, I think there’s something changes in her. The other day, she asked me what brand of mascara is good (I’m laughing while typing this). I was quite excited and happy. No, she is not totally unfeminine, she still has her lady side but not frequently can be seen. However, she is simple pretty girl. And of course, lovable.

Last but not least, Nur Hanem or Hanem. This one girl is a baby figure in TFG. Hahaha. She is the prettiest in TFG, I hope she doesn’t read this because I feel awkward complimenting her. Her mom pampered her a lot, since she is the only daughter in her family. But her mom is the best though. She is like the cool mom in the movie. So yes, Hanem is really close with her mother. She would not go anywhere without her mother. Hanem has like really bright personality which I think adorable. She does not act like her face portrays her. She laughs easily, she can even laugh watching a falling leaf. She would always be the entertainer in TFG. She is really loud.You might go deaf standing beside her. Nah, I’m just kidding. I didn’t like her at first because of her loudness. I became her friends because Asz introduced me to her. Then, we hang out and I think she is really funny so I changed my impression on her. Hanem, Iliya and Farah were in the same class. We all started to be close and spend time together in form 4. Hanem talks nonsense a lot which most of us won’t really cope with. She knows this but she does not stop. But when it comes to making fun of others, you can rely on her. She makes hurtful remarks but that’s normal for us because it’s Hanem. Actually, all of us are like that. Anyway back to Hanem, yes, Hanem is the sunshine of TFG. It is always fun to spend time with her.

That’s it. Long post isn’t it? I know and thank you for reading until the end. I really appreciate it. I love them and I like to tell you their personality because they have been amazing in my life. They are like no others. They understand me well like my family. They are my second family. Even though, each of us has our own life to deal with, we don’t forget to remember each other. And for me, I always want my girls to be part of my life even in the future. TFG saranghaja!
